FAQ

How long have you been doing photography?

I’ve been working as a wedding photographer for 9 years. Before that, I was an associate photographer, assistant, in-house editor, and client manager. I’ve been involved with photographing wedding days from all positions so I know what to expect and how to prepare for a stress-free day.

What is your style of photography?

My approach to capturing your session/wedding is a blend of documentary and honest "unposed" moments. I’m there to capture your story as a spectator, but I know when to step in for shots that may require a little guidance. My value comes from knowing when to offer direction and more importantly- when not to. I want to be a fly on the wall as much as possible.

Do we need a second photographer?

Most weddings do not require a second photographer. Occassionally the logistics of a wedding day require us to bring on a second photographer but that's something I can help you determine!

How many weddings do you book in a season?

I limit the amount of weddings I take in a season to make sure I can give my couples the full attention they deserve. I accept between 10-12 weddings in a season. If you’re thinking about hiring me as your wedding photographer, reach out ASAP.

Do you take breaks on wedding days and does dinner count towards our time with you?

I (and any second photographers) do not take formal breaks during your wedding day, but there naturally tends to be slower portions of the day where you might find us not shooting as much and just hanging out in the background. However, we do sit down (and grab a diet coke!) during dinner because nobody wants a photo of them shoving mashed potatoes in their mouth. And yes, all hours of coverage are consecutive so dinner still counts towards our time together.

Where should we take our photos?

Somewhere meaningful to you! Do you like to get ice cream? Let’s go to your favorite spot. Do you like to hike? Let’s find that trail. Do you like to watch movies on your couch? Let’s shoot in your home. Do you like to ride your motorcycle to brunch? Let’s ride. If you need help picking a location around Metro Detroit, I have a list of beautiful spots I can recommend too.

Do you travel?

YES! If you’re having a destination wedding or are out of state, I’d love to join you. Travel fees are quoted based on the details of your wedding. Let me know the details in my contact form!

Do we get all of the images you shoot?

The quick answer is no. Part of my process and what you’re hiring me for is delivering you the best images to tell your story. During my editing process, I remove any images that I do not deem high-quality. These usually include duplicates, blinks, test shots, and blurry images. Don’t worry, I’m not going to delete important images! Just the ones that you don’t need. A final wedding gallery will have anywhere from 500-900 edited high resolution images (it depends on the length of coverage and how many “events” you have at your wedding). A lifestyle gallery will include a minumum of 75 edited high resolution images. Please note that under no circumstances do I ever deliver RAW image files.

Can you make me look thinner, curvier, younger, etc?

Nope. You are beautiful the way you are! During the editing process I will edit out anything that's not normally there. For example, pimples, cuts, bruises, etc. Moles, dimples, and wrinkles- those stay. I will not do any body modification editing and will not outsource for any body modification editing.

How long do we have to wait to see our images?

Within 1-2 weeks of your wedding/session you will get a sneak peek of your images. You can expect to get your full wedding gallery 10-12 weeks after your wedding. Lifestyle session galleries are delivered 3-4 weeks after your shoot. Sometimes, if the coffee is strong, my workflow runs a little bit faster!

Do i need to make a shot list for our wedding?

Nope! I've been doing this long enough to know all the important things to document! I don't want you spending your day worrying about a checklist of photos or trying to copy something you saw on Pinterest. However, a list of names for family group photos is helpful when it's time to do those!
