XTREME HIKE 2015

Back in July we received so much love and support from family, friends, and local businesses as we raised money for Joe's Xtreme Hike. Our hearts were so full of love as we hosted an event at Switch Crossfit to spread awareness about Cystic Fibrosis. Well, this weekend the day had finally come for us to head up to Manistee, Michigan so Joe could complete the hike he'd been preparing months for.

We drove 3.5 hours through rain, snow, sunshine, and every other kind of weather Michigan could throw at us. We rallied with an amazing group of people who were incredibly gracious of the hard work we put in fundraising for this very moment. We settled in with a delicious dinner and got to meet the fellow hikers. At 7:00 Saturday morning Joe headed out with the group to complete their 15 mile journey through the Arcadia Dunes. 7 hours later he came back with a camera full of pictures and a handful of stories about his experience. At the last team meeting, Joe graciously accepted an award for raising the most money during this experience (total proud wifey moment!) Again, THANK YOU to those of you who were a part of making this possible.

One of my favorite things about this experience, is that I was able to sit in a room full of people who understand what I go through with Cystic Fibrosis. They just get it. They get every nitty gritty, dirty, little detail about this disease. And it was beyond fulfilling to be around people I could relate to on a level that I am normally alone on. Oh, and I FINALLY got to meet Emily Schaller who is an amazing individual doing amazing things for Cystic Fibrosis while battling the disease herself.

Thank you to everyone who cares about this cause. And here's to the fighters who fight the battle every day.

Next year I WILL be on that hike because... THOSE VIEWS.
